Dr. Roshan Colah is Deputy Director (SG)/Scientist F at the National Institute of Immunohaematology under the Indian Council of Medical Research in Mumbai. She received a Ph.D in Biochemistry from Bombay University in 1984, and has been the Head of the Department of Haematogenetics at the Institute since 1988.
Her group works on Red Cell Disorders, with a particular focus on Hemoglobinopathies, Red Cell Enzymopathies, and Membranopathies. Her main area of research has been on the epidemiology of the thalassemias and sickle cell disease, developing newborn screening programmes for sickle cell disorders, understanding the molecular basis of the thalassemias, and developing prevention programmes in India.
Dr. Colah has received several awards and has been invited to participate in many National and International meetings. She has published 185 papers in peer-reviewed National and International journals.
